Set Options Select Set Options to view or change settings under the following headings: Options - Find, Options - Replace, Options - Results|Display, Options - Results|Viewers, Options - Results|Save, Options - Results|Colors, Options - Exclude, Options - System.
Enable Replace Enable or disable Replace operations. When this is checkmarked, buttons and edit boxes necessary for Replace operations appear on screen and Replace operations are enabled. If you do not need to use Replace operations, leave the Enable Replace menu choice unchecked to save space in the Main Window and to prevent inadvertent invocations of Replace operations. If you want to disable the Replace operations permanently, or password-protect the use of Replace operations, see “Disable Replace Operations” in Options - Replace.
Plain-text Search Make the Find operation a plain-text search. What you enter for a Find is treated literally.
Regular Expression Search Make Find a regular-expression search. What you enter for a Find is treated as a Regular Expression in which some characters have special effects that determine what is searched for.
Approximate Search Make Find an approximate search. What you enter for a Find is searched for with a number of errors, or discrepancies, allowed. You set the number in Options - Find .
Sound-alike Search Make Find a sound-alike search. What you enter for a Find is reduced and converted to a core, alphabetically represented sound. See Four Ways to Find.
Search Subfolders During Find, Replace, Touch, and List operations, include the subfolders that belong to the Folder(s) you designated.
Match Whole Words During Find, match only whole words.
Case-sensitive Search During Find, match the upper or lower case of all characters.
Binary & Multiple Lines During Find or Replace operations, what you entered for a Find is treated as a string of binary characters. Since such a string can contain end-of-line characters, you may enter for Find multiple lines. A Binary & Multiple Lines window opens up to accept your entries for Find or Replace.
Boolean Expression During Find or Replace operations, if what you entered for a Find is in the form “this and that or the other,” your entry is treated as a simple boolean expression.
Fonts Choose a font. The Entries Font is for Find, Replace, Folder(s), and File(s). The Results Font is for the text in Results.
