Binary Viewer

The Binary Viewer displays binary files. It does not edit binary files. Binary files may be database, system, or program files, or other such files that are either best edited by applications devoted to the purpose or are not edited at all.

There are three ways to open a file in the Binary Viewer:

1) Select “Binary Viewer” on the Main Menu’s View Menu. Then, on the Binary Viewer Menu, select File|Open.

2) In the Main Window, after a Find or Replace operation, left-click a Results line to select a file, and right-click to get a pop-up menu. Then select “Open File in Binary Viewer.” The Binary Viewer will open and display the file that corresponds to the Results line.

3) With Double Click in Results Opens in Options - Results|Viewers set to Text- or Binary-File Viewer, double-click on a Results line after a Find or Replace operation. The Binary Viewer will open and display the file that corresponds to the Results line if that file was searched as a binary file; otherwise, the double-click will open the file in the Text Viewer.
