Batch Mode

The Batch Mode enables you to create and use a batch, or series, of Find or Replace operations. The series of operations is kept in a batch file that you create and save.

Use commands on the Batch Menu to invoke the Batch Mode and control it.

In Batch Mode, the Batch Mode window opens. In addition, two buttons, “Add” and “Execute,” appear in the Main Window. Click on the “Add” button to add the contents of Find, Replace, Folder(s), and File(s), as well as some of the more commonly used options, to the batch file displayed in the Batch Mode window. Click on the “Execute” button to execute the commands in the batch file displayed in the Batch Mode window.

Example:

Turn on Batch Mode by selecting “Batch Mode” from the Main Menu’s Batch Menu.

Enter in Find: whale

Enter in Replace: wharf

Enter in Folder(s): c:\oceans

Enter in File(s): *.txt

Click the “Add” button.

Enter in Find: leg

Enter in Replace: peg

Enter in Folder(s): c:\wild\pursuits > d:\scuba\gear

Enter in File(s): *.*

Click the “Add” button.

Click the “Execute” button. Note: Do not actually execute this example.

Notice that your various entries in Find, Replace, Folder(s), and File(s), as well as some options, have appeared in the Batch Mode window. Your entries in the Main Window create the batch in the Batch Mode window.

On Execute, this example replaces occurrences of “whale” with “wharf” in all files with extensions of “.txt” in the folder “c:\oceans”. Next, this example replaces occurrences of “leg” with “peg” in all files in the folders “c:\wild\pursuits” and “d:\scuba\gear”.
