Windows’ Quick View (quikview.exe) displays various kinds of files but does not edit them. Quick View is supplied as part of the operating system. If it is installed, it is likely to be on disk as c:\windows\system\viewers\quikview.exe. Finders Keepers™ will find it if it is anywhere in the Windows directory. If it is not, the Quick View selections on the Perform Menu and Results Local Menu are grayed out and disabled.
Installing If Quick View is not installed, you can install it by selecting Settings | Control Panel on the Windows Start menu. Next, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon; and then, click the Windows Setup notebook tab. Look under Accessories for Quick View and checkmark it for installation.
One window, two windows, three... If you want Quick View to use the same window repeatedly, instead of opening a new window for each file, click View on Quick View’s menu, then checkmark Replace Window by clicking it.
Editing a file from Quick View If you want to edit the file you are viewing in Quick View, click File on Quick View’s menu, then select Open File for Editing.
Closing files and windows Finders Keepers™ does not close instances of Quick View or applications opened by View | Open File for Editing.
