Outline

The Outline section of the Project Commander provides the means to view a file in outline form. This is particularly useful for large files.

The Outline function works only for files that have been prepared for outlining by formatting some paragraphs with specific styles that you have created to represent outline levels. See “Styles for outlining” in Outline Options.

The Outline menu of the Project Commander and the toolbar on the Outline notebook page contain the following choices:

Outline Current Click this to outline the editor’s current file.

Synchronize Choose this to synchronize the outline with the editor’s current file. When synchronized, the outline changes as you select different files in the editor.

Double Click Highlights When this option is on, a double click on a line in the outline will highlight the corresponding line in the editor. If the line is not already visible in the editor, it will be brought into view.
