Enable the editing of the header and footer for all pages. When this option is selected, as indicated by a check mark, you can move the cursor into the header or footer on any page and edit the text there. When you have finished such editing, click on this menu item again to disable the editing of the header and footer.
To make the header and footer visible on all pages without enabling the editing of them, select View | Page Header/Footer instead of this option.
Headers and footers are not available in plain-text mode. See Editing Modes.
