Active Thesaurus^TM

Select this item from the Editor | Tools menu to toggle the Active Thesaurus^TM on and off.  The Active Thesaurus^TM lets you check definitions and synonyms easily by double clicking on words.

If Active Thesaurus^TM is on:

The thesaurus/dictionary dialog opens and stays open.  Whenever you double click or highlight a word in the editor with the mouse, the word and its related data show in the thesaurus/dictionary dialog immediately.  Click "Apply" to accept a selected word in the thesaurus/dictionary as a replacement for the editor's highlighted word.  Click "Close" to turn off Active Thesaurus^TM and close the dialog without any change to the editor.

You can easily insert a selected word from the thesaurus/dictionary into the editor.  In the editor, place the caret where you want to insert the word by clicking on the location or by moving to it with the arrow keys.  Select a word in the thesaurus/dictionary.  Then click the "Apply" button.

Remember:  if no text is highlighted in the editor, "Apply" inserts the selected word; but if text is highlighted, "Apply" replaces it with the selected word.

If Active Thesaurus^TM is not on:

If you do not want the thesaurus/dictionary dialog to stay open, turn off Active Thesaurus^TM, and then access the thesaurus/dictionary by selecting Thesaurus / Dictionary or Check Thesaurus from the Editor | Tools menu.
